Fondation Abbé Pierre
For almost 30 years, the Abbé Pierre Foundation has worked to provide adequate housing and dignified living conditions to disadvantaged communities across France.
Outside of France, the Abbé Pierre Foundation also helps to improve the livelihoods of people suffering through poverty, adversity or natural disaster. Tens of thousands of people across 20 countries have so far benefited from their generous support.
Since 2019, the Foundation has supported ELIL though the ‘Know Your Rights’ project, focusing on providing legal information and legal assistance to particularly vulnerable groups, namely:
Unaccompanied women
Unaccompanied children incorrectly registered as adults
Asylum seekers in detention
These groups may face specific challenges in accessing legal information and legal assistance and realising their rights. Through this collaboration with Abbé Pierre, ELIL works to reach hundreds of vulnerable people and ensure that they are aware of their rights and informed about the asylum process.
In 2020, the Foundation reinforced its support for ELIL by providing additional funding to facilitate the launch of the new Samos Project.
